jasmine lauren so invisible

He don't understand this thing at all,
feels like you can see right through my soul,
i'm soo lost,
out of touch,
why do i feel like i'm loosing control,
boyfriends give lots of love,
i need so much more,
you refused to see me at all so i guess i remain invisible

In this verse the artist starts the song by saying 'he don't understand this thing at all, feels like you can see right through my soul' this can connote that the song is going to be about a relationship she has had or having that is not going well because she is saying that he doesn't understand how she feels and that he sees right through her emotions. She then starts singing about how she feels, she says 'she feels like shes loosing control' and that 'he refused to see her' this can connote her and her partner relationship is closely coming to an end because shes loosing control of her partner and also he has lost interest in her because he does not really want to see her.

you don't see what i see in your eyes,
you don't blink twice,
when i walk by,
am i invisible ,
baby please tell me oh

She then starts singing and telling the audience that he could be loosing interest in her because she says 'you don't blink twice, when i walk by' this can connote he is loosing interest in her or that he has no feelings or he does not find her physically attractive anymore. she then finishes the verse asking if he still has feelings for her and if he sees her as someone important in his life by saying ' am i invisible'. Finally she finishes the verse by asking him to please tell her if she is invisible to him.

what don't u see in me that u see in her,
what makes me different from those other girls,
i'm falling apart,
because you can see through my heart,
baby i'm starting to feel so invisible

She then starts making assumptions that he has another women in his life by saying 'what don't you see in me that you see in her' this can connote he has cheated on her or moved on and that he sees the new girl differently and she is asking what is it that makes her better than the artist. She then tells us that she cant cop by saying shes falling apart this can connote that she is taking the split if they are separating badly. Finally she then says again that he sees through her and she asks for him to just tell her if hes finished.

I cant explain this thing at all,
I cant help but to be emotional,
the only one to blame is love
She finishes the song by telling the audience that he is confusing her and that she is really emotional about the hole situation. this can connote that she was deeply in love which can set the theme of love for the song.

Target audience
Age: This can appeal to the age range of 16-25 because that is around about the average age people start dating and also it is a young age so people can split up or make mistakes and hurt the other person emotionally which is what the song is about.
Gender: This can appeal to both genders male and female because t is about relationships and both genders can be in relationships whether its a male and a female dating each other or the same sex dating. However it would appeal to women more because it is a female singing the song and they can relate to her or learn ad see what to expect from a relationship that can go wrong.
Interest: this can appeal to people with the interest of love or people who enjoy love things like films. Also it can appeal to people that have relationship problems because that is what the song is about.
Location: It can appeal to anyone around the world because everyone can get into a relationship and everyone can get emotional and break up.
Ethnicity: it can appeal to any ethnicity because relationships can happen with anyone and these situations can happen to anyone.

Tempo: The tempo of the son was slow. this is typical of a love song and it also sets the theme f sadness and depression because it is so slow. Also if the tempo is slow the lyrics would be said slower so people can hear what she is saying clearly and they can hear her story in more detail.

How would you use this in a music video: This would be used in a music video by showing what the girl could be doing while she is singing the song. For example she could be sitting on a bed looking at past photos of her and the boy crying while she is on the phone singing the words to a friend informing her of her story and what is happening.

99 Dolar music video

what is 99dollarmusicvideos.com?

99 dollar music videos is an indeoendant music network that make low-fi music video company that make music videos for independant bands with film makers. They make new but original music videos using the best of todays music scene. however they have to stict to rules which are:
  • It must be made for 99$ or less.
  • it must be shot in one day.
  • it must be edited in one day.
  • it has to be a collaboration between the band and the film maker.
What is their ethos?

The ethos of the website is to make music videos for independant bands with only 99$. They aim to collaborate artists and unkown film makers and make the video and edit it in one day. This will promote both the band and the film maker. They premier videos every week however for the video to be premiered the video has to be catchy and eye catching.

What types of songs, labels genre appear on their website?

The type of label on the website would be independant labels because the website is for independant bands to make a music video. The genres which are most popular on the website is rock and indie. These genres are most could be most popular because in a typical rock or indie music video there isnt alot of money splashed around on expensie props or locations.

What is the relationship between the artist and the film maker?

Even though the website put the filmmakers and the band together to collaborate and they have never met before their relationship has to be good so the music video is a success, Because if there is alot of disagreements they could break the websites ethos of trying to complete the video within a day. Also the relationship has to be good so they can agree with things alot easier and their work can be done fast and effectively with hardly any problems at all.

What costs are included and arent included in the 99$?

When the filmmaker and the band begin to make the music video the filmmaker is allocater with 99$. This 99$ is for things that the filmmaker or the artist need that they cant get hold of for example if the band need a new drum or new costumes then this will be taken out of the 99$, however if anything the filmmaker or the artist own such as cameras and lights this will not effect the 99$ they have been given.

How does 99dollarmusicvideos.com encourage audience participation?

The 99 dollar music video website try to encourage the audience to participate quite alot by allowing them to leave feedback on a video via liking the video or leaving a comment. This will give the filmmaker and the band and idea of how the audience reacted and whether they liked the video or not. Also the website allows the audience to attempt to make their own music video.

Is it possible to make a proffesional music video for 99$?

It is possible to make a proffesional video for with just 99$ becuase it makes the filmmaker put more effort into making the video because they will feel if they can make something good with such a short budget it will attract bigger companys becuase they will feel they can do alot with a higher budget. Also in  the care bares on fire "barbie ate a sandwich" music video the filmmaker was able to make a proffesional video with just 99$, they effectively done this by using lots of animation and using the green screen through out the hole video.

Andrew Goodwin

Andrew Goodwin is a media theorist who came up with the theory that music videos focus on visuals such as amplification, disjuncture and illustration. in his theory he talks about:

  • The relationship between the lyrics/ music and the visuals, with the visuals illustrating, amplyfying or cntradicting the lyrics/ music.
  • Genres are complex and diverse in terms of music video style and iconography
  • Record companies will demand a lot of close ups of the main artist or vocalist.
  • Voyeurism is present in many music videos, especially in the treatment of females, but also in terms of systems of looking. some are screens with screens , cameras, mirrors, etc.
  • There are likely to be intertextual references, either to other music videos or to films and TV texts, these provide further gratification and pleasure for the viewers/fans.

Star persona

Star persona is when the label takes one aspect of the artists personality and builds on it to make it the main image of the artist. For example if someone is abit of a joker the label would emphasis on this and make the hole audeince only see the funny side of the person. However an artists star persona can change through out its career because the audience have become bored and want change. The label will then just pick another aspect of the artists personality and build on that. A good example of an artists star persona and how  it changes would be eminem. Eminem started off as almost like a comedian rapper because all of his videos were very humourous. However the star persona changed twice more in his career into a gangster rapper and a genuine normal guy that raps about himself and his life.

Voyeurism
This is when the audience watch a music video and gain sexual pleasure. Most of the time it happens in a womens music video because the women would just be lying there or walking around with little clothing or she may be dancing in a way to catch the attention of a man. This is called the male gaze. A good example of this would be the Nicki Minaj-Right through me video as she is behind steamed glass dancing in her underwear. This could be done to attract the male audience.
