production log-week 2

This week me and my partner Amrit had to finish all of the planning for our music video. This consisted of doing risk assesments, location reccies, job role descriptions, getting permission, a shooting script, and a production schedule. We started off by emailing some of the people that we had to contact in order to use a location. after this i had done a location reccie whcihc described the location and why i wanted to use it. After this we had to do our shooting script that would help us with how many shots and what shots we would use in our music video. After we did this we just finished off all the other bits of planning on the weekend at my house and Amrits house and then finnally uploaded all the work we had for planning on to our blogs.

Locations reccies

Graveyard

We have chosen a graveyard as one of the locations because one of the lyrics in the song which is 'ive seen a mother loose a son he was just the age of 21.'. this scene where the artists says this would be good if its set in a graveyard because it goes with what the artist is saying. It also sets the theme and mood for the audience so it becomes more engaging. so this will help them understand and they will know what is going on more. Me and my partner are planning on using Ilford graveyard because it is quite big and its local so its easier to get ourselves, the equiptment and the casting crew there.

Goodmayes highroad

Me and my partner have chosen goodmayes highroad as a location because it is quite run down with alot of alley ways which will give the urban theme to the music video. Alot of the scenes would be shhot here for example the drug dealing scenes and the scenes where it shows the artists early part of his life where he was living a hard urban lifestyle. We chose Goodmayes highroad because it is local and easy to get to and also the alley ways they have are quite open and close to the busy part of the road so there will be less chance of problems like theft. Another reason why we have chosen goodmayes highroad is because it gives the streets urban vibe to our music video and fits well with the genre. So having lots of scenes here will make it engaging to the auydience and link inalot with the song.

Westwood park

Another location we have chosen is Westwood park. we chose this park in particular because its local also its not very busy so there wont be that much of an issue with people walking past the camera. We need a park for some of the scenes because most young people in britain hang around and do nothing or deal and take drugs in a park. So this will fit in well with the music video. Also it goes with the genre of the song and emphasises on the fact that its a urban genre.

Chigwell

We chose chigwell as a location for the music videobecause it is quite posh and high rated, so it loks like rich people live there. All rappers have aspirations of being rich so this location could be used for scenes where the artist is dreaming where he could live and where he lives when he becomes succesful, rich and famous. So it will be good to use this area because it can show the artist how succesful he has really become. Another reason why we are using Chigwell is because my partner lives there so we can use his house and area for the video to show that the artist become succesful. Another reason why we are using Chigwell is because there is not many 'gangsters' around the area soit can show that the artist is living a better life.

School

Finally we are going to use the school as a location to show scenes of the rapper when he was at school not wanting to go and him bunking, and then the transformation where he starts attending school and hes grades get better and change from E's to A's. This will help us show the audience that he is a changed man and he wants to be succesful. Also these scenes can help link in with the other locations like on the higroad and park where hes doing drugs and failing then when hes at school and starts concentrating it shows him in Chhigwell.

Production log- week one

This week I pirched my idea for my music video and recieved feedback. I then had to post the pitch video and the feedback on youtube and my blog. I then had to think about who i wanted to work with to make the music video with and i done this after i had seen all the pitches. I chose to work with Amrit Panesar.

We chose to do Amrits song because his idea was really clear and he knows what he wants to do for every part where as my idea still needed some work done to it. Also the genre of the song i prefer to do because i dont know much about indie songs. Also i like the song so i wont get bored or annoyed hearing the same song constantly. Finnaly me and Amrit are already good friends so we will be reliable to eachoether and it will be easier to meet up and get the work done. We didnt do much this week because we mainly focused on watching everyones pitches.

Are there any areas of the presentation you would like to give any more detail on?
I feel i could more detail on the actual artist because i didnt give much detail so my audeince did not know much about him and his music, apart from that i think i have put enough detail in the pitch, however there was some stuff I wanted to say but couldnt really explain it in words so i could not say it. And also i feel that i was confident however i was mumbling what i was saying so it wasnt very clear so the audeince may not of heard everything i had to say.

What were the strenghtes of my music video idea?
The strengthes of my presentation was that my idea was solid and i knew what i was doing. i also gave good examples and explained the examples and linked it with my ideas well. Another strenght of my work is that i showed m cast properly so people could see whoi they were and what they looked like so they could give feedback on the persaon and they could make a judgement on whether they thought the person could foit the character and archetype they had to fit.

What were the weaknesses?
The weaknesses of my presentation is that my idea for my music video did not really fit the style and genre for my music video which was indie, my idea was more for a RnB or hip hop music video. Another weakness for my prsentation is that my cast didnt really fit the characters they had to play.

What changes would I make to my music video based on my feedback?
I would think about my casting properly so the characters look like they should be there and they fit the characters they are going to play. Also i would speak more clearly and prepare more about what im going to say so all of my ideas and everything i want to say is said and its said clearly so everyone knows what im saying. Also i would think of an idea for my music video that goes with the song more.

Music video pitch

When i presented my pitch for my music video to my fellow pupils i felt that i had forgotten most of the things that was included in the powerpoint so a couple of parts of my presentation were left out. However i think i got most of my points across. I feel as if i could of done better if i had spent more time on it and if i had chose a song from a genre i am good at. when i did it i thougt i could of spoke abit clearer and could of been less figity. the strenghtes of my presentation was the idea however it dosent really go well with the type of song that i had chosen but the idea i had chosen was clear and i knew what i wanted to do. The weakpoints of my presentation wasis that i wasnt that clear when talking and i was mumbling what i was saying. overall I thought my presentation was quite good because i covered near enough all areas, and my ideas were clear but i think i can improve on making it more engaging for the audience.
