jasmine lauren so invisible

He don't understand this thing at all,
feels like you can see right through my soul,
i'm soo lost,
out of touch,
why do i feel like i'm loosing control,
boyfriends give lots of love,
i need so much more,
you refused to see me at all so i guess i remain invisible

In this verse the artist starts the song by saying 'he don't understand this thing at all, feels like you can see right through my soul' this can connote that the song is going to be about a relationship she has had or having that is not going well because she is saying that he doesn't understand how she feels and that he sees right through her emotions. She then starts singing about how she feels, she says 'she feels like shes loosing control' and that 'he refused to see her' this can connote her and her partner relationship is closely coming to an end because shes loosing control of her partner and also he has lost interest in her because he does not really want to see her.

you don't see what i see in your eyes,
you don't blink twice,
when i walk by,
am i invisible ,
baby please tell me oh

She then starts singing and telling the audience that he could be loosing interest in her because she says 'you don't blink twice, when i walk by' this can connote he is loosing interest in her or that he has no feelings or he does not find her physically attractive anymore. she then finishes the verse asking if he still has feelings for her and if he sees her as someone important in his life by saying ' am i invisible'. Finally she finishes the verse by asking him to please tell her if she is invisible to him.

what don't u see in me that u see in her,
what makes me different from those other girls,
i'm falling apart,
because you can see through my heart,
baby i'm starting to feel so invisible

She then starts making assumptions that he has another women in his life by saying 'what don't you see in me that you see in her' this can connote he has cheated on her or moved on and that he sees the new girl differently and she is asking what is it that makes her better than the artist. She then tells us that she cant cop by saying shes falling apart this can connote that she is taking the split if they are separating badly. Finally she then says again that he sees through her and she asks for him to just tell her if hes finished.

I cant explain this thing at all,
I cant help but to be emotional,
the only one to blame is love
She finishes the song by telling the audience that he is confusing her and that she is really emotional about the hole situation. this can connote that she was deeply in love which can set the theme of love for the song.

Target audience
Age: This can appeal to the age range of 16-25 because that is around about the average age people start dating and also it is a young age so people can split up or make mistakes and hurt the other person emotionally which is what the song is about.
Gender: This can appeal to both genders male and female because t is about relationships and both genders can be in relationships whether its a male and a female dating each other or the same sex dating. However it would appeal to women more because it is a female singing the song and they can relate to her or learn ad see what to expect from a relationship that can go wrong.
Interest: this can appeal to people with the interest of love or people who enjoy love things like films. Also it can appeal to people that have relationship problems because that is what the song is about.
Location: It can appeal to anyone around the world because everyone can get into a relationship and everyone can get emotional and break up.
Ethnicity: it can appeal to any ethnicity because relationships can happen with anyone and these situations can happen to anyone.

Tempo: The tempo of the son was slow. this is typical of a love song and it also sets the theme f sadness and depression because it is so slow. Also if the tempo is slow the lyrics would be said slower so people can hear what she is saying clearly and they can hear her story in more detail.

How would you use this in a music video: This would be used in a music video by showing what the girl could be doing while she is singing the song. For example she could be sitting on a bed looking at past photos of her and the boy crying while she is on the phone singing the words to a friend informing her of her story and what is happening.

99 Dolar music video

what is 99dollarmusicvideos.com?

99 dollar music videos is an indeoendant music network that make low-fi music video company that make music videos for independant bands with film makers. They make new but original music videos using the best of todays music scene. however they have to stict to rules which are:
  • It must be made for 99$ or less.
  • it must be shot in one day.
  • it must be edited in one day.
  • it has to be a collaboration between the band and the film maker.
What is their ethos?

The ethos of the website is to make music videos for independant bands with only 99$. They aim to collaborate artists and unkown film makers and make the video and edit it in one day. This will promote both the band and the film maker. They premier videos every week however for the video to be premiered the video has to be catchy and eye catching.

What types of songs, labels genre appear on their website?

The type of label on the website would be independant labels because the website is for independant bands to make a music video. The genres which are most popular on the website is rock and indie. These genres are most could be most popular because in a typical rock or indie music video there isnt alot of money splashed around on expensie props or locations.

What is the relationship between the artist and the film maker?

Even though the website put the filmmakers and the band together to collaborate and they have never met before their relationship has to be good so the music video is a success, Because if there is alot of disagreements they could break the websites ethos of trying to complete the video within a day. Also the relationship has to be good so they can agree with things alot easier and their work can be done fast and effectively with hardly any problems at all.

What costs are included and arent included in the 99$?

When the filmmaker and the band begin to make the music video the filmmaker is allocater with 99$. This 99$ is for things that the filmmaker or the artist need that they cant get hold of for example if the band need a new drum or new costumes then this will be taken out of the 99$, however if anything the filmmaker or the artist own such as cameras and lights this will not effect the 99$ they have been given.

How does 99dollarmusicvideos.com encourage audience participation?

The 99 dollar music video website try to encourage the audience to participate quite alot by allowing them to leave feedback on a video via liking the video or leaving a comment. This will give the filmmaker and the band and idea of how the audience reacted and whether they liked the video or not. Also the website allows the audience to attempt to make their own music video.

Is it possible to make a proffesional music video for 99$?

It is possible to make a proffesional video for with just 99$ becuase it makes the filmmaker put more effort into making the video because they will feel if they can make something good with such a short budget it will attract bigger companys becuase they will feel they can do alot with a higher budget. Also in  the care bares on fire "barbie ate a sandwich" music video the filmmaker was able to make a proffesional video with just 99$, they effectively done this by using lots of animation and using the green screen through out the hole video.

Andrew Goodwin

Andrew Goodwin is a media theorist who came up with the theory that music videos focus on visuals such as amplification, disjuncture and illustration. in his theory he talks about:

  • The relationship between the lyrics/ music and the visuals, with the visuals illustrating, amplyfying or cntradicting the lyrics/ music.
  • Genres are complex and diverse in terms of music video style and iconography
  • Record companies will demand a lot of close ups of the main artist or vocalist.
  • Voyeurism is present in many music videos, especially in the treatment of females, but also in terms of systems of looking. some are screens with screens , cameras, mirrors, etc.
  • There are likely to be intertextual references, either to other music videos or to films and TV texts, these provide further gratification and pleasure for the viewers/fans.

Star persona

Star persona is when the label takes one aspect of the artists personality and builds on it to make it the main image of the artist. For example if someone is abit of a joker the label would emphasis on this and make the hole audeince only see the funny side of the person. However an artists star persona can change through out its career because the audience have become bored and want change. The label will then just pick another aspect of the artists personality and build on that. A good example of an artists star persona and how  it changes would be eminem. Eminem started off as almost like a comedian rapper because all of his videos were very humourous. However the star persona changed twice more in his career into a gangster rapper and a genuine normal guy that raps about himself and his life.

Voyeurism
This is when the audience watch a music video and gain sexual pleasure. Most of the time it happens in a womens music video because the women would just be lying there or walking around with little clothing or she may be dancing in a way to catch the attention of a man. This is called the male gaze. A good example of this would be the Nicki Minaj-Right through me video as she is behind steamed glass dancing in her underwear. This could be done to attract the male audience.

Styles and conventions of music videos

Narrative
In a narrative music video there is very little footage of the artist preforming the song its mainly a story of something nothing to do with the song but sometimes it is to do with the song. Institutions use narrative video to get people talking about the song and generate word of mouth. It generates word of mouth because people will talk about the storyline of the video.

Preformance
Preformance usic video is when a music video is made and the footage is footage from a ive concert that the artist has preformed in. Institutions do this because its cheaper because they wont have to spend alot of money making a brand new music video. Also it gives viewers a chance to see what the artist is like live so they can be pursuaded to buy tickets to go and watch the artist live. This will make more money from concerts.

Typical conventions of genre
Typical conventions of genre are music videos what you would expect to see in a typical music video for a specific genre. Institutions could do this to show the strong sense of brand and to show clearly what genre the music is and the conventions that genre has.

Animation
Animation music videos are when the music video is edited or is just not footage. institutions do this to attract the audience more. It can also generate more word of mouth. Also it could make ore money because people will like it so much it can win awards.

interpretation
Interpretation is when the video matches the lyrics of the song, so for example if the singer sings a line where he/she says 'i got in the car' and in the video the artist gets into a car. Institutions do this so its easier for the audience to understand. Also some people may enjoy it more because its more relevant to the song.

impresionist
This is when the video doesn't match the lyrics of the song but the lyrics go with the pace and the cuts of the video. So for example if the theme of the song is anger the video will be very fast paced and there will be a lot of cuts. Institutions do this so the video becomes more eye catching because the pace of the video goes with the song itself. Also the the song can tell two different stories if the lyrics and the video do not match.

intertextuality
Intertextuality is when a music video refers to another media text. It is done so the audience have an understanding of what is going on and they will enjoy it more. Institutions may do this to attract viewers more. It can also promote the other media that they have remade.

parody
Parody is when is a comic version of another media text. Institutions may do this because the audience they are aimed at may enjoy humour. Also it shows the funny side to something that can be serious. Also institutions may do this t appeal to a wider audience.

referencing
Referencing is when the song is a soundtrack for a movie and the music video has clips of the movie in it. This can promote the movie and create a hype for when it will be released. Also institutions may do this so they can appeal to the movies audience aswell as there own this will make their target audience alot biger.

Music video outlets

Mainstream TV
Mainstream TV is television that is shown to most of the public and it is really popular. So if a song is shown on mainstream TV alot of people will hear and see it. This is good for a new song because if its new it will be shown to allot of people fast so the audience will be bigger. Also it could increase the size of the artists target audience. This is good for the label because they will pay only a small amount for it to be shown and mainstream TV is easy to access and its accessible to a large number of people. An example of a music show for mainstream TV would be top of the pops. When They was on TV they was on a channel that everyone could watch and they showed live performances and new music.

Music channels
Music channels are TV channels specifically for music. Music channels are good because they have chart shows so the public know how well songs are doing, shows that show how a music video was made, they show music videos and they promote new releases. Also shows such as MTV have other channels for different genres for example MTV base for hip hop and RnB, MTV hits for pop and MTV dance for clubland songs. Music channels are good for the artist and the song because when a new song is released its shown lot for the first week or two since it has been released. This can show the target audience the song and promote it more however on a downside if the song is shown too much viewers may get annoyed, Also with MTV's channels for specific genres it limits the size of the audience the artist can appeal to. This is good for the label because if the music channel promotes and shows the song a lot when its first released then the label can make a lot of money in early sales.

Direct CD/special edition CD/DVD releases
Some artists release exclusive footage with their CD's. Most of the time this is the record labels choice. This is good because the release of an album would be more hyped up and also it will persuade the target audience to buy it because they get to see something you cant see anywhere else. however on a downside people may think they can watch it for free on the internet so their is no point paying for a CD. This is good for the artist because it shows the audience more about themselves so the audience can relate to them and find out what their lives are really like.

Streaming websites
Streaming websites like youtube are good because people can watch music videos for free and its easy to access. Its also free for the video to be posted so the artist does not loose any money. Also there are links to other songs from the same genre. This will benefit the artist and the label because millions of people use youtube all over the world so they can see the music video. Also for unknown artists that post videos of them singing on youtube if they get good ratings then they could rise up the ranks and get signed by a record label. A good example of this would be Justin Bieber, as he released a video of him singing on youtube and then he was signed and now he has global success. Its also good for the artist because they can increase the size of their audience for free.

Artists websites
Artist websites are good because it shows everything about an artist and their music, it also has some business tie ins and you can purchase merchandise or tour tickets. This is good for the artist and the label because people can view only the artists music so it wont send them to someone else s music like youtube so it doesn't make competition fierce. However the audience size is limited and it is unlikely your target audience will increase.

Downloads (illegal and legal)
Downloading music legally is good for the audience and the artist because, The download cost money will go to the artist and the audience wont face any trouble if they are caught. However if music is downloaded illegally then the artist wont gain any money and it could affect the rannk they get in a chart shwo.

purpose of a music video

promotion of new music release
This purpose is to raise awareness of the new song or album. Raising awareness can increase launch sales because people will know when the new song or album is going to be released so they will be ready to buy it.The release date is usually turned into a special event with a countdown and sometimes even a launch party. Also on the internet on websites such as Youtube it can raise awareness in areas where artists are unknown for example there could be an advertisement on a different song saying that the track or album is going to be released.

Visual representation of an artist
Also music videos can be made is because of the visuals. This allows the Artist to be seen without having to preform. It also shows the audience the artists brand more clearer. For example if the music video is filmed in a gym and has lots of footage of people working out this can connote their brand is fitness and they like to keep in shape and that they want to promote healthy living and fitness. Also if the lyrics match the video and whats happening in the video it can be easier to understand.

Play ability of songs on music channels
When new songs are released music channels play the song allot and more frequently then others, this is so more people find out about the song and so people know about it. This can increase sales of the artists new rack and promote them. Also it can change their rank in popularity for example if a new grime song is released and is frequently played on channel AKA it can become very popular and make it on to bigger and better chat shows.

Synergy
Synergy is used to promote and raise awareness of both the artist and the institution. For example every year x factor make a charity song that all their contestants sing that usually becomes Christmas number one in the charts. This will show everyone the talent x factor have because the people they have made a number one single.

Art
If the music video is really good it can make the song even more popular. Also it can get people talking and it could be remembered fr a very long time. The video could even be more popular and remembered more than the actual song itself.

Good and bad music video techniques

Large number of cuts

Cuts are used in music videos to try and get the viewer drawn into the video, the cuts have to be in time with the beat to draw the viewer in more because if its not in time with the beat its confusing and takes the viewer of the song. this cutting technique has been succesful in this music video because it cuts in time with the song. this makes the video more eye catching and draws the viewer in alot more so they enjoy watching the video while listening to the song. also it dosent confuse the viewer because it cuts in time so its more enjoyable to watch. the quick cuts can connote that the music is fast beat so this can connote that the artist sings fast songs.

If there isnt many ucts in a music video it can be quiet boring. here is an example of a music video with not many cuts.  the viewer may find it boring because its not very intresting because its just a many with monkeys dancing to a song. this can take the viewers concentration off the video because not much is happening  so it is quiet boring. this can connote the artist makes more chilled out slow songs because there isnt any cuts so there isnt much of a beat or a quick beat.#

Special effects

Special effects are used in the best music videos. They are used to attract the viewer and to keep the viewer watching the video. If the special effects are really good then the viewer may enjoy the song more. This technique has been successful because its very eye catching and the special effects link in with music because, the special effect is people and objects being drawn with a tape. This can keep he viewers focus on the song because they will not want to look away because its good also it will help them enjoy the song more. These special effects are coming out from tapes so this can connote the video has something to do with music.

In this music video they have tried to add special effects but they are not very good. This is a bad example of special effects because they are supposed to attract the viewer more and make the video more enjoyable but the special effects were not very good so it didn't work. This would bore the viewer so it wouldn't be very effective.

Cutting to the beat

The technique of cutting to the beat is used to draw the viewer into the video more. it can make it more enjoyable and eye catching t watch. it also goes with the flow of the song so its better to watch. This technique has been successful because it cuts with the beta, the beat is fast and the cuts keep up with the fast tempo. The effect of this technique is that it makes the video more enjoyable and people will talk about it more. it can also connote the type of music so if there's lots of cuts it can connote its a fast song.

This is a bad example of cutting to the beat because, the song is playing and the cuts are very random. The cuts do not go with the beat. This can loose the viewers interest and concentration on the song because it can be confusing. It can be confusing because the tempo of the song is different to the cuts of in the video so the viewer is trying to concentrate on two things, the video and the song.

Varied camera language

Varied camera language is used to show movements of people in a video and to keep the video good and not boring. This is a good example of varied camera language because the camera is always moving and there is a variety of different shots, angles and camera movements. this makes the video better because it will not bore the viewer. It can also show the movement of the characters and where they are going. Also it can connote the type of song so if theres little camera movement it could be a slow paced love song or ballad but if theres alot of camera movement then it could be a party song.

Here is an example of a video with not much varied camera movement. This is quite boring and can loose viewers interests very easily because not much is happening.

Green screen

Green screen is used so the video can be in any location or somewhere that doesn't even exist without going there. In this video it has been used good because it doesn't look obviously fake. This will draw the viewer in more and make it more enjoyable to watch because it makes the video more like a movie.

Here is an example of bad green screening. Its bad because the boy in the video is wearing the same colour as the screen so his body gets cut out of the image. Also the background image is not very eye catching and it it quite boring so this will loose viewers attention.

Lip-syncing

This technique is used to make the audience think that they are singing but they aren't. This is good because the performer could be doing a dance routine and look like hes singing when he actually isn't rather than dancing and singing really bad. It has to be done good like in the video above because it will look like they are actually singing where as in the video below you can tell the artist isn't really singing and it looks really bad.

evaluation

We were asked to make a corporate video for a charity, the charity we chose was Redbridge Faith Forum. Redbridge Faith Forum is a charity that teaches people about lots of different faiths. this is good because people will have an understanding of what other people believe in. also it will reduce racism and helps people live with community cohesion.

We had to make a corporate video for Redbridge Faith Forum. The corporate video had to tell viewers  what Redbridge Faith Forum is about and what they do. For example our video was a interview which had questions which sums up what Redbridge Faith Forum is.

The purpose of the video was to inform the public about Redbridge Faith Forum and what they do. We had to promote there organisation to the public and show why they were set up, what they aim to achieve, what they have achieved so far and what they do.

Pre-Production
In pre-production we had to research about corporate videos, the conventions of a corporate video and what makes a good coporate video and what makes a bad corporate video. We then had to do some work where we had to write about two corporate videos why one was good and why one was bad. Then we had to select what organisation we was going to work with. we chose redbridge faith forum, we then had to research redbridge faith forum to get some knowledge about them before we went to go and see them. after we had chosen what organisation we were going to work with and got some information about them we had to go meet redbridge faith forum and get some more information about them. we found out what they do and what the purpose of their organisation is, we also found out what they have ahcieved and what theyre targets are. we then organised a date to go and film with them and planned what we was going to do and when we was going to do it. we then planned the structure of our video. Our video structure was to have graphics of the questions then have the footage of the answers after.

Production
During production we went to go and see redbridge faith forum and we did some filming. we did an interview with them asking them who they are, what they do and their targets. then we uploaded our footage and began to edit it. When we had to set up the shots for filming we didn't really have much choice of what shots we could do because the room we was filming in was really small, so we done an over the shoulder shot for the whole time we filmed.

Post production
in post production we edited our footage and began to put our corporate video together we made graphics that had the questions written on them and we inserted them in the appropriate places in the video then put the footage of the answer after. we also added some other graphics like the logo. and finally we put some background music in to go with the video and not make it boring. we also added images of the different logos Redbridge Faith Forum has so it the video wasn't just an interview because it would have been boring for the viewer.

The problems we faced with this was that we couldnt get in touch with the organisation because they were busy so we got a late filming date which made us rush everything.

The strengths of our work was that we had thought of a strong idea really quickly so we had time to elaborate on it and make it even better. however the weaknesses are that everything was rushed towards the end and we did not have much footage that we had filmed ourselves.

My opinion on the end product is that considering the time we had at the end and the footage we had we made it to the best it could be. it could have been better if we had more time to film but unfortunately that wasnt the case. overall i think me and my group put in allot of effort and the end product showed was rather good.

        Coursework 12.10.11

Boy enjoys himself while working on a building site

here is a picture of me sitting in a tractor. The caption makes it look as if i am having fun as well as working. this could make the person viewing the photo believe that young people are actually going out and finding jobs and trying to work.

young boy messing around  slows down progress at work.

however this caption makes the viewer see the negative side and can make them believe that young people don't get much work done that is why they don't get employed.

different captions on the same photo can change what the meaning of the picture is about. for example the first picture shows me enjoying work where as the second photo shows me messing around and not getting much work done.

Right wing and left wing headlines

All news papers are either left wig or right wing. Left or right wing are like two different teams. its what people believe in. left wing are in favour of working class people, they favour social equality, they favour social changes/progress, they favour high taxes and state involvement, they favour peace and they are also inclusive. however the right wing are completely different to the left. the right wing favour, the wealthy and upper class people, survival of the fittest and capitalism, maintaining class status quo and they are favour in lowering taxes.

this is an example of a left wing newspaper article. firstly it shows its left wing because its calling millionaires 'scumbags', if you call somebody a scumbag you are expressing your feelings of disgust and dislike towards them. this shows it is left wing because they are in favour of the working class. secondly the story is about bankers trying to apologize for doing something wrong but the newspapers keep blaming them.

This is a good example of a right wing paper because firstly the telegraph is already a right wing paper. secondly right wing papers would talk about the upper class wealthy people more and this article is about the royal family making poeple feel sorry for them because there heritage is going.

        phone hacking

        Phone hacking

What is phone hacking? How is it physically done?

phone hacking is when people intercept phone calls or voicemails on a mobile phone without the owner of the phone knowing, its done through sim cards and wireless devices such as bluetooth. or Mobile phones used to come with a four digit Pin that customers had to change but not many did. so then tabloid journalists could ring the person and if they did not answer the would enter the 4 digit pin and access the messages. or it can be done by downloading a software onto the deice that can be accessed remotely.

Why does the newspaper industry use phone hacking?

Newspaper industries use phone hacking because the competition in the newspaper industry is very high so by phone hacking they can find out exclusive information other companies cant. by doing this it could increase popularity in their newspaper because they know things other newspapers don't and also there will be an increase in sales if this is the case.

What has the impact been on the Newspaper industry, especially the News of The World?

The impact has been big because new of the world done the phone hacking and was closed down but now other newspaper industries are being investigated about it. news of the world was closed down and had to pay settlements to the people whose phones they had hacked.however this can be used as a wake up call to all the other newspaper industries because they will be more careful about how they get their sources.

Who are the main victims of phone hackers and how has it effected them?
The main victims of phone hacking are Murdered teenager Milly Dowler and the parents of murdered Soham school girls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were allegedly targeted. Relatives of dead UK soldiers and relatives of 7/7 victims may also have had their phones hacked. some celebrities such as sienna miller. however all together there are around 4,000 victims of phone hacking.

What is Newscorp? How has this scandal effected them?

News Corporation is the worlds leading publisher of  newspapers and their digital brands, they are set up in many countries such as  the U.K., the United States, Australia, Papua New Guinea and across Europe and Asia. The Newspaper segment includes News International, which publishes 4 national newspapers in the U.K. News Limited publishes almost 150 across the world.

Who are Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson? How are they involved in the phone hacking scandal?

Rebekah brooks is a journalist and a former newspaper editor,She is a prominent figure in the News phone hacking scandal, having been the editor of the News of the World when illegal phone hacking was allegedly carried out by the newspaper. Andy Coulson was the editor of News of the world he also joined David Cameron's personnel as communications director until he resigned because of the phone hacking scandal.

What has the government done to address phone hacking?
They made a legislation against phone hacking and closed down News Of The World. also the prime minister gas made two enquireies to phone hacking that the police are going to do. One is the poor relationship between the police and government as the situation could have been prevented and resolved at an earlier stage. and the other enquirie is the original case of the news of the world doing phone hacking.

        Evaluation

How did you use 180 degree rule, rule of thirds & match on action?

i used the 180 degree rule quite well in the conversation however towards the end of the conversation i forgot and went on the wrong side. i had to use the mirror effect on iMovie to change this and try and make it stay in the 180 degree rule.

i used the rule of thirds very well in my video because every shot i done whether it was a mid shot, long shot or close up etc. i used the rule of thirds and used it well. This makes the shot look better because the eyes are a third of the way up the screen so the head of the person in the shot isnt right at the top.

What challenges did you face during production? What would you change if you were to film again?

The challenges i faced during production was trying to keep the film flowing without having any jump cuts.i found this rather challenging because i didn't properly plan and look at my storyboard when filming also because i think i rushed the filming so i didn't really think about the jump cuts. If i was to film again i would film the running scene in a more straight circuit so it will not be as hard to keep it flowing because i had to keep moving in different positions to film the actor running. also i would have more speech in there.

What challenges did you face during post-production? What would you change if you were to edit again?
The challenges i faced during post production was trying to put the shots together without any jump cuts, but because there was some i had to hide them with fades and shots of a clock to show time was going past. if i could edit again i would change the music while he was running to something less urban and maybe add some music towards the end or a sound effect when they haven't done the homework.

What are the overall strengths of your work? Why?
The overall strengths of my work was the editing because i was able to cover up most of my mistakes wile filming with the editing. so the editing was a strength because it made it look good. also i think another strength of my work could be the creativity because when he was running i didn't bore the viewer by just showing him running i done a shot of his legs running which showed he was running but they couldn't see where to also i thought at the end when he through the book at his friend was rather creative.

What are the overall weaknesses of your work? Why?
I think the overall weaknesses of my work would be my planning because i did not spend much time thinking of an idea i just thought of a quick one and stuck to it instead of taking time and thinking of a really good idea. also i didn't spend much time story boarding either i rushed the storyboard and went straight to filming. another weakness was filming because i had to many jump cuts, another weakness is that i failed to use the 180 degree rule i had to change that and make it work by using the mirror effect on imovie.

What overall improvements would you make to your work?

overall the improvements i would make is i would plan it properly and spend more time thinking of a good idea and then spend more time making a good story board so i know what needs to happen in the movie, i will use the 180 degree rule better, try filming without havin any jump cuts and edit the footage more.

Unit 2- Conventions of a corporate video

I think that this is an example of a bad corporate video because it s very boring. firstly there is no actual footage everything we see is pictures almost like a slide show, this will not attract the viewer because they cant see actual footage of people or where it is. Also there are no interviews, so the viewer will not know what other people think of the business and it also wont any questions so if the viewer did have a question that the interviewee asked they wont find out the answer anyways. The video didn't show any history of the business so the viewers wouldn't know how long they have been going for and any achievements and improvements that have happened. finally the music is boring so it may put the viewer off from the beginning.

Unit 2- Conventions of a corporate video

A corporate video is a informative video that advertises an organisational company. The aim of a corporate video is to attract the viewer and advertise the company. The duration of a corporate video is much longer than a normal advertisment, this is because the corporate video can tell the viewer more than it can in a normal tv advertisement. a good corporate video should tell the viewer about the company, where abouts its based, what the company does, how good they are, show how they work etc. The example of a good cororate video im using is the Malaysian airlines corporate video. At the beggining it starts by showing the viewer how long they have been going for and the progress and changes they have made. this shows the viewer that they are always improving and getting better. it then informs the viewer about what countrys it flies to and from so they know whether they can use it or not. The corporate video then spends abit of time telling the viewer about awards they have won, how good their cabin crew are. they do this by showing each award they have won and how many times tey have won it, and it then shows us that they have had the best cabin crew for 10 years. This is done to attract the viewer even more because it is showing the quality of their airlines.Throughout the hole video it repeats itself by quoting 'were one of the worlds best airlines'.
